Writing for the Web

Monday, 18 February, 2019 - 14:00 to 16:00
2.18, Lister Learning and Teaching Centre Central Area

This event is available to: .

If you’ve ever thought about a career in communications, writing or editing, come and learn about the world of digital content. We read online differently to how we read print, and there are ways we can craft the information we put online to make it easier for our readers to understand our messages.

In the first half of this session, we’ll cover:

  • why and how we use the web
  • how to get critical information noticed
  • making content accessible

With these lessons in mind, we’ll then do a collaborative writing exercise where you’ll work in pairs to edit a piece of content.

Learn all this from an Edinburgh Linguistics graduate whose career path was inspired by Writing for the Web training, and would be happy to answer any questions you have about working in the digital content world.

If possible, please bring a laptop or tablet to the event.

This event may be photographed and/or recorded for promotional or recruitment materials for the University and University approved third parties. For further information please contact the organiser.
