Urban Walks: Sensory

Tuesday, 20 February, 2018 - 09:30 to 12:30
Room G37, Centre for Open Learning Paterson's Land
BOOK NOW

Taking a sensory walk in the city can make you more aware of aspects of urban life that you might otherwise miss. You become more aware of the pace of people, traffic and everyday activity. It can make more obvious the rhythms, motions, sounds, smells and textures of the city that you might otherwise miss. You may become more alert to incidents and incidental conversations. The first step in sensory walking is to slow right down. Slow walking sounds easy...but it can take a bit of practice!

Workshop

Experience the art of walking during this fantastic workshop and walking tour around historic Edinburgh. After an introduction to walking as an artistic activity and a demonstration on how to record your walk using a notebook or your mobile phone, you will be guided through Edinburgh where you will use your senses to experience the city like never before!
